OMANZ is committed to giving back to the communities we work in.

Youthline:

oOh!media supports Youthline in their mission to better the lives of young people. Youthline provides a service to those who need support and assistance to develop their skills and leadership potential. Building a youth-centred community by forming collaborations of youth development organisations across the country, Youthline has a multitude of resources ranging from employment advice, counselling and training programmes.

Keep New Zealand Beautiful:

oOh!media is dedicated to keeping our communities clean, safe and beautiful, by supporting the not-for-profit organization Keep NZ Beautiful. KNZB’s goal is to eliminate rubbish, reduce graffiti and encourage waste minimization and recycling initiatives as much as possible. This environmentally-focused initiative also runs sustainability education programmes, community cleanups and opportunities to be involved with water restoration and tree planting.

KidsCan:

QMS are fully being KidsCan NZ who deliver targeted programmes which remove the physical barriers preventing children in low decile schools from getting the most out of their education. These initiatives currently support the education of more than 41,000 children in 204 schools across the width and breadth of New Zealand. QMS Media have been official media partners of KidsCan since 2011 and are proud to continue our support for an amazing organisation.

Pet Refuge NZ:

QMS were proud to support the launch of this amazing charity in May 2019. Pet Refuge New Zealand is working to provide temporary shelter for pets affected by domestic violence, keeping them safe while their owners escape abuse. Pet Refuge believe no one should have to live with violence. The shelter will ensure pet owners know their animals are safe while they start a new life free from domestic violence.

Auckland Zoo:

Auckland Zoo is an active conservation organisation that is helping build a future for wildlife. They see the natural world as irreplaceable and full of wonder and the world’s wildlife in need of our help. QMS have been major sponsors of Auckland Zoo since 2009. As well as providing the Zoo with sponsorship’s funds we also leverage our network to give them practical support with media campaigns.

National Youth Theatre Company:

NYTC (The National Youth Theatre Company) is a not-for-profit organisation that runs Theatre training workshops and musical productions in New Zealand.[1] It was established in 2005, with the aim of providing opportunities for young people to participate in performing arts training.[2] The company provides training strictly to New Zealand youth, between ages 7 and 21, and each show has multiple casts, enabling more young people to perform on stage. QMS have been supporting NYTC since 2014.

Te Wiki O Reo Maori:

OMANZ first supported Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori in 2018 and will continue to do so in the coming years. Te reo Maori is now emerging from its places in Te Ao Maori (the Maori world) into Aotearoa whanui (wider New Zealand). Te Reo is a taonga of Maori and has been treasured and valued by them for centuries. Now we are clear about te reo Maori being for all New Zealanders and OMANZ will be supporting the Maori Language Commission with their quest to restore it to its pride of place in commerce.

Environment & Sustainability

As the leading representative body for New Zealand Out of Home industry, OMANZ and its Members recognises its responsibility to minimise the impact of the industries operations on the built and natural environment and to contribute to the sustainability of the communities in which it operates. This includes the recycling of waste materials, where practicable.

OMANZ members have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to reducing the impact of the industry on the environment and are continually improving sustainability by promoting best practice.

This includes the following practices:

  1. Adopting programs to reduce waste generation, including the waste produced from the production and display of PVC advertising banners.
  2. Monitoring and reporting on evolving Out of Home technologies that reduce the impact of industry on the built and natural environment.
  3. Establishing achievable and measurable environmental initiatives, including:
    • Benchmarks for monitoring the reduction in the generation of waste, including recycling programs for outdoor advertising skins.
    • Programs to conserve energy, water and natural resources through increased efficiency and the introduction of new technologies and production methods.
    • Targets to increase the number of fuel-efficient vehicles within operational transport fleets.
    • Providing sponsorships or in-kind support towards community initiatives that champion environmental causes.
    • Communicating openly and constructively with relevant authorities, government agencies and the community on sustainability and environmental issues which relate to the industry.
